Sasa Yung (he/him) is an illustrator, comic artist, and puppeteer from New York City.
His work and practice draw from research into forgotten or erased histories. He aims to combine radical speculation with illustration to create narrative works that commune with the dead, the unrecorded figures hidden in the crevices of history, and their stories that have yet to be brought to life. His main interests are in mythology, social movement history, as well as Asian American and queer studies.
He has performed locally and internationally in spaces such as La MaMa Experimental Theater NYC, Dixon Place, The Wassaic Project, La MaMa Umbria, and Automata Arts in Los Angeles.
Sasa is currently a senior at Parsons School of Design, working towards a BFA in Illustration. While he’s not scribbling or sketching, he’s also a Program Leader at The W.O.W Project’s youth fellowship Resist, Recycle, Regenerate.
Sometimes he dreams of becoming a sustainable vegetable farmer, but for now, he’ll settle for his windowsill plants and the 1 train.
